Corporal William Othello Wilson, a soldier in the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on December 30, 1890 at Sioux Campaign during the Indian Campaigns. At the time he was serving with Company I, 9th U.S. Cavalry. Wilson was 21 years old.

Wilson was born on September 16, 1869 in Chewsville, Washington County, Maryland. His Medal of Honor is credited to St. Paul, Ramsey County, Minnesota. Wilson died on January 18, 1928, at the age of 58. He is buried at Rose Hill Cemetery in Hagerstown, Maryland. His medal is held by Maryland African American Museum, Baltimore, MD.
