Captain Eli Lundy Huggins, a soldier in the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on April 1, 1880 at O'Fallons Creek, Montana during the Indian Campaigns. At the time he was serving with 2d U.S. Cavalry. Huggins was 37 years old.
One other service member also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. The medal was presented on November 27, 1894, 14 years after the action. He later rose to the rank of Brigadier General.
Huggins was born on August 1, 1842 in Schuyler County, Illinois. His Medal of Honor is credited to Minnesota. Huggins died on October 22, 1929, at the age of 87. He is buried at Mountview View Cemetery in Oakland, California.
Huggins is one of 426 Medal of Honor recipients from the Indian Campaigns and one of 45 credited to Minnesota.

Eli Lundy Huggins (August 1, 1842 – October 22, 1929) was an American Brigadier General and author who received the Medal of Honor for his actions during the Indian Wars. He was also the commander of the 8th Volunteer Infantry Regiment during the Spanish–American War.
