Sergeant Charles H. Welch, a soldier in the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on June 25, 1876 in Little Big Horn, Montana during the Indian Campaigns. At the time he was serving with Company D, 7th U.S. Cavalry. Welch was 31 years old.
