Honoring American Troops is an independent, non-commercial archive dedicated to the men and women who have received the Medal of Honor, and to everyone who serves in America’s armed forces.
Our history
The HonoringAmericanTroops.com name has been used since 2004 for grassroots tributes to American service members — pages for individual troops, a “troop of the month,” tributes to the fallen and veterans, and fundraisers for care packages. In 2026 the site was rebuilt as an open reference: a searchable archive of every Medal of Honor, with guides that help visitors understand, research and honor military service.

Sources and methods
Service and award details were compiled from public recipient records published by the Congressional Medal of Honor Society. Official citations are works of the U.S. Government and in the public domain. Portraits, short biographies and “named in honor” information come from Wikimedia Commons, Wikipedia and Wikidata, and are shown only where a record could be matched with confidence; each is credited with its license. The short narrative on each profile is generated automatically from the recorded facts — ages, dates and places — so that every page reads clearly on its own.
Records from the 19th century in particular contain gaps and inconsistencies: birth years may be approximate and names spelled several ways. Where our sources disagree we show the recorded value rather than guessing.
