Sergeant William H. Wilcox was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on May 12, 1864 in Spotsylvania, Virginia during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company G, 9th New Hampshire Infantry. Wilcox was 23 years old.
34 other service members also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. The medal was presented on July 28, 1896, 32 years after the action.
Wilcox was born on November 12, 1840 in Lempster, Sullivan County, New Hampshire. Wilcox died on October 27, 1913 in Kalamazoo, Michigan, at the age of 72. He is buried at Lake View Cemetery in South Haven, Michigan.

Took command of his company, deployed as skirmishers, after the officers in the command of the skirmish line had both been wounded, conducting himself gallantly; afterwards, becoming separated from command, he asked and obtained permission to fight in another company.
