Private James W. Huff was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions in 1872 in Arizona during the Indian Campaigns. At the time he was serving with Company L, 1st U.S. Cavalry. Huff was about 32 years old.
The medal was presented on April 12, 1875, 3 years after the action. He later rose to the rank of Sergeant.
Huff was born on February 7, 1840 in Washington, Washington County, Pennsylvania. His Medal of Honor is credited to Van Buran (Washington Township), Washington County, Pennsylvania. Huff died on November 30, 1927 in Port Richey, Florida, at the age of 87. He is buried at Pine Hill Cemetery in New Port Richey, Florida.
