Sergeant Brent Woods, a soldier in the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on August 19, 1881 in New Mexico during the Indian Campaigns. At the time he was serving with Company B, 9th U.S. Cavalry. Woods was about 31 years old.
The medal was presented on July 12, 1894, 12 years after the action.
Woods was born in 1850 in Pulaski County, Kentucky. His Medal of Honor is credited to Louisville, Jefferson County, Kentucky. Woods died on March 31, 1906, at the age of about 56. He is buried at Mill Springs National Cemetery in Nancy, Kentucky.
