Captain Milton F. Russell was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on December 29, 1862 at Stone River, Tennessee during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company A, 51st Indiana Infantry. Russell was 26 years old.
One other service member also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. The medal was presented on September 28, 1897, 34 years after the action.
Russell was born on September 25, 1836 in Hendricks County, Indiana. His Medal of Honor is credited to North Salem, Hendricks County, Indiana. Russell died on July 2, 1908 in Oakland, California, at the age of 71. He is buried at Odd Fellow Columbarium Cemetery in San Francisco, California. His medal is held by The Henry Ford, Dearborn, MI.
Russell is one of 1,525 Medal of Honor recipients from the Civil War and one of 75 credited to Indiana.

Russell was awarded the medal on 28 September 1897 for actions performed at the Battle of Stones River in Tennessee on 29 December 1862.
