Serving as a soldier in the U.S. Army, Captain George Wesley Biegler received the Medal of Honor for his actions on October 21, 1900 near Loac, Luzon, Philippine Islands during the Philippine Insurrection. At the time he was serving with U.S. Volunteers, 28th Infantry. Biegler was 32 years old.
The medal was presented on March 11, 1902. He later rose to the rank of Lieutenant Colonel.
Biegler was born on May 31, 1868 in Terre Haute, Vigo County, Indiana. Biegler died on April 2, 1929 in Presidio of San Francisco, California, at the age of 60. He is buried at The Hollywood Cemetery in Hollywood, California. His medal is held by Congressional Medal of Honor Society, Mount Pleasant, SC.
Biegler is one of 82 Medal of Honor recipients from the Philippine Insurrection and one of 75 credited to Indiana.
