Dow was born on August 7, 1840 in Atkinson, Rockingham County, New Hampshire. His Medal of Honor is credited to Manchester, Hillsborough County, New Hampshire. Dow died on September 28, 1910, at the age of 70. He is buried at Atkinson Cemetery in Atkinson, New Hampshire.
