Sergeant Andrew Jackson Tozier was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on July 2, 1863 in Gettysburg, Pennsylvania during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company I, 20th Maine Infantry. Tozier was 25 years old.
27 other service members also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. The medal was presented on August 13, 1898, 35 years after the action. He later rose to the rank of First Sergeant.
Tozier was born on February 11, 1838 in Monmouth, Kennebec County, Maine. His Medal of Honor is credited to Bangor, Penobscot County, Maine. Tozier died on March 28, 1910, at the age of 72. He is buried at Litchfield Plains Cemetery in Litchfield, Maine.
