Major Albertus Wright Catlin was a Marine in the U.S. Marine Corps who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on April 22, 1914 in Vera Cruz, Mexico during the 1914 Veracruz expedition. At the time he was serving with 3d Marines. Catlin was 45 years old.
13 other service members also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. He later rose to the rank of Brigadier General.
Catlin was born on December 1, 1868 in Gowanda, Cattaraugus County, New York. Catlin died on May 31, 1933 in Culpeper, Virginia, at the age of 64. He is buried at Arlington National Cemetery in Arlington, Virginia. His medal is held by National Museum of the US Marine Corps, Quantico, VA.
Catlin is one of 56 Medal of Honor recipients from the 1914 Veracruz expedition.
