Lieutenant William Brant Jr. was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on April 3, 1865 in Petersburg, Virginia during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company B, 1st New Jersey Veteran Battalion. Brant was about 25 years old.

Brant was born in 1840 in Elizabeth, Union County, New Jersey. His Medal of Honor is credited to Trenton, Mercer County, New Jersey. Brant died on March 2, 1898 in Elizabeth, New Jersey, at the age of about 58. He is buried at The Evergreen Cemetery in Hillside, New Jersey.

Biography
William Brant, Jr. (1840 – March 2, 1898) was an American soldier who fought in the American Civil War. Brant received the country's highest award for bravery during combat, the Medal of Honor, for his action at Petersburg, Virginia on 3 April 1865. He was honored with the award on 10 May 1865. Brant joined the 1st New Jersey Volunteer Infantry in May 1861, and was commissioned as an officer in February 1865. He mustered out with his regiment in June 1865.
