Corporal Sidney Haight was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on July 30, 1864 in Petersburg, Virginia during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company E, 1st Michigan Sharpshooters. Haight was 16 years old.
21 other service members also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. The medal was presented on July 31, 1896, 32 years after the action.
Haight was born on August 21, 1847 in Reading, Hillsdale County, Michigan. His Medal of Honor is credited to Goodland, Lapeer County, Michigan. Haight died on September 17, 1918, at the age of 71. He is buried at West Reading Cemetery in Reading, Michigan.
