Captain Moses Veale, a soldier in the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on October 28, 1863 in Wauhatchie, Tennessee during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company F, 109th Pennsylvania Infantry. Veale was 30 years old.

The medal was presented on January 17, 1894, 30 years after the action. He later rose to the rank of Major.

Veale was born on November 9, 1832 in Bridgeton, Cumberland County, New Jersey. His Medal of Honor is credited to Philadelphia, Philadelphia County, Pennsylvania. Biography

Moses Veale (November 9, 1832 – July 27, 1917) was an American soldier, attorney and Medal of Honor recipient. After being awarded the Medal of Honor for actions at Wauhatchie, Tennessee, during the American Civil War he served as the United States attorney for the territory of Montana. He served multiple positions through the years and was nominated for State Senator of Pennsylvania in 1876.
