Captain John E. Moran was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on September 17, 1900 near Mabitac, Laguna, Luzon, Philippine Islands during the Philippine Insurrection. At the time he was serving with Company L, 37th Infantry, U.S. Volunteers. Moran was 44 years old.
The medal was presented on June 10, 1910, 9 years after the action.
Moran was born on August 13, 1856 in Vernon, Windham County, Vermont. His Medal of Honor is credited to Cascade, Cascade County, Montana. Moran died on November 7, 1930, at the age of 74. He is buried at Highlands Cemetery in Great Falls, Montana.
