Private Jacob F. Yeager, a soldier in the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on May 11, 1864 in Buzzard's Roost, Georgia during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company H, 101st Ohio Infantry. Yeager was 23 years old.
One other service member also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. The medal was presented on August 3, 1897, 33 years after the action.
Yeager was born on January 27, 1841 in New Texas, Lehigh County, Pennsylvania. His Medal of Honor is credited to Tiffin, Seneca County, Ohio. Yeager died on November 13, 1909, at the age of 68. He is buried at Greenlawn Cemetery in Tiffin, Ohio.
