Serving as a soldier in the U.S. Army, Sergeant Henry Frank Schroeder received the Medal of Honor for his actions on September 14, 1900 in Carig, Philippine Islands during the Philippine Insurrection. At the time he was serving with Company L, 16th U.S. Infantry. Schroeder was 25 years old.
The medal was presented on March 10, 1902. He later rose to the rank of Captain.
Schroeder was born on December 7, 1874 in Chicago, Cook County, Illinois. Schroeder died on January 22, 1959 in Long Beach, California, at the age of 84. He is buried at Fort Rosecrans National Cemetery in San Diego, California. His medal is held by 1st Infantry Division Museum at Cantigny (1896 design), Wheaton, IL.
Schroeder is one of 82 Medal of Honor recipients from the Philippine Insurrection and one of 210 credited to Illinois.

Henry Frank Schroeder (December 7, 1874 – January 26, 1959) was a soldier in the United States Army who received the Medal of Honor during the Philippine–American War at Carig in the Philippines. Schroeder joined the Army from Chicago in July 1896, and permanently retired with the rank of Major in August 1930.
