Corporal Henderson Calvin Howard was a soldier in the U.S. Army who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on June 30, 1862 in Glendale, Virginia during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company B, 11th Pennsylvania Reserves. Howard was 22 years old.
6 other service members also received the Medal of Honor for actions on the same day. The medal was presented on March 30, 1898, 35 years after the action. He later rose to the rank of First Sergeant.
Howard was born on September 16, 1839 in Indiana County, Pennsylvania. His Medal of Honor is credited to Indiana, Indiana County, Pennsylvania. Howard died on December 13, 1919 in Fort Collins, Colorado, at the age of 80. He is buried at Grand View Cemetery in Fort Collins, Colorado.
