Captain George Washington Mindil, a soldier in the U.S. Army, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on May 5, 1862 in Williamsburg, Virginia during the Civil War. At the time he was serving with Company I, 61st Pennsylvania Infantry. Mindil was 18 years old.
