Quartermaster Christopher Fowler was a sailor in the U.S. Navy who received the Medal of Honor for his actions on May 11, 1874 off Point Zapotitlan, Mexico — a peacetime act of courage recognized in the Interim 1871 - 1899 period. Served on board the U.S.S. Fortune off Point Zapotitlan, Mexico, 11 May 1874. On the occasion of the capsizing of one of the boats of the Fortune and the drowning of a portion of the boat's crew, Fowler displayed gallant conduct.
