Landsman Alexander Bradley, a sailor in the U.S. Navy, received the Medal of Honor for gallantry on August 7, 1872 off Cowes, Isle of Wight — a peacetime act of courage recognized in the Interim 1871 - 1899 period. At the time he was serving with U.S.S. Wachusett. Bradley was 20 years old.
Bradley was born on September 19, 1851 in Boston, Suffolk County, Massachusetts. His Medal of Honor is credited to Massachusetts. Bradley died on March 6, 1925 in Akron, Ohio, at the age of 73. He is buried at Holy Cross Cemetery in Akron, Ohio. Records also list him as Bonner, Cornelius "Neil".

On board the U.S.S. Wachusett off Cowes, 7 August 1872. Jumping overboard into a strong tideway, Bradley attempted to save Philip Cassidy, landsman, of the U.S.S. Wabash, from drowning.
